I can't believe that I've never posted these photos! My friend was looking for some outdoor family photos and I knew the perfect spot. We met at Horsethief Canyon, at the very top of a small hill at the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains. You could see almost the entire LA and Orange counties.
You could also smell the horses from the nearby stables and hear the dogs playing at the dog park.
Of course, we had to meet at my favorite time of day to take photos: golden hour. Since the hill faces the Los Angeles valley, the sun was setting over all the cities and glistening off the buildings and cars. It was even making the leaves on the willow trees and eucalyptus trees glow. Just gorgeous!
This family are such dear friends and we've bonded over several evenings of game nights. By the way, did you know that my husband has created his own board game? Another story for another day.
Anyway, we started the photos near the cool fences. Can't you imagine horses tied up there? Then we found some amazing willow trees and eucalyptus trees to play in and climb.
Ahh, these kids were the sweetest. They hugged, played in the trees and even cuddled on a blanket. That's just my kind of photo session: kids playing in gorgeous light!
This family really is as sweet as they look. I hope these dear friends love their images as much as I loved capturing them.
It's amazing how quickly our kids grow and change. Family photo sessions like this one are a great way to make time stand still. In decades to come, they can look back an remember the fun day they had playing in the trees.
